1. Who We Are
PocketWing is an AI-powered dating assistant operated from Sydney, Australia. Throughout this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refers to PocketWing and its operator.

2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information collected through the PocketWing website (pocketwing.app) and the PocketWing application (app.pocketwing.app). We are committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Account information: email address and password (stored as a secure hash via AWS Cognito)
- Profile data about people you're dating: names, interests, preferences, dietary requirements, notes, flags, and conversation topics
- Date logs: venues visited, dates, ratings, outfit notes, and follow-up reminders
- Chat messages: conversations with the PocketWing AI assistant
- Settings and preferences: notification preferences, display settings
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device type
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, access timestamps
3.3 Information from third parties
We do not purchase or receive personal information about you from third parties.
4. How We Use Your Information
We collect and use your personal information for the following purposes (APP 3 & 6):
- To provide the PocketWing service — AI-powered date planning, suggestions, and memory features
- To authenticate your identity and secure your account
- To process your chat messages through our AI system to generate personalised responses
- To improve the reliability and performance of the service
- To communicate with you about your account or service changes
We will not use your personal information for purposes other than those stated above without your consent.
5. Third-Party Services
To provide the PocketWing service, we use the following third-party processors:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Infrastructure hosting — servers located in the Sydney (ap-southeast-2) region. Data encrypted in transit and at rest.
- OpenAI: AI chat processing — your chat messages are sent to OpenAI's API to generate responses. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models and are retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring before deletion.
- Google Places API: Venue search — only search queries (e.g. "wine bar Newtown") are sent. No personal data is transmitted.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties for their own purposes.
6. Data About Other People
PocketWing allows you to store information about people you are dating. This may include their names, interests, and personal details they have shared with you.
You are responsible for:
- Only storing information that has been shared with you in the normal course of dating
- Not uploading sensitive information (health, financial, political beliefs) about others without their awareness
- Deleting information about someone if they request it
If a person believes their information is stored in PocketWing without appropriate basis, they may contact us at admin@pocketwing.app and we will work with the account holder to resolve the matter.
7. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored on AWS infrastructure in the ap-southeast-2 (Sydney) region
- Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+
- Data is encrypted at rest using AWS-managed encryption keys (AES-256)
- Authentication is managed by AWS Cognito with enforced password complexity
- Access to production systems is restricted and logged
8. Data Retention
- Your data is retained for as long as your account is active
- Upon account deletion, all your data (profiles, dates, chat history, settings) is permanently deleted within 30 days
- We do not maintain hidden backups of deleted data
- Automatically collected technical logs are retained for up to 90 days for security purposes
9. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access (APP 12): Request a copy of all personal information we hold about you
- Correction (APP 13): Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time via your account settings
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with us or with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

10. Cookies and Tracking
PocketWing uses only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that track you across other websites.
11. Children
PocketWing is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete their account and data immediately.
12. International Data Transfers
Your data is primarily stored in Australia (AWS Sydney region). Chat messages are processed by OpenAI, whose servers are located in the United States. By using PocketWing, you consent to this transfer for the purpose of AI processing. OpenAI does not retain your data beyond their stated abuse-monitoring window.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of PocketWing after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
14. Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us first at admin@pocketwing.app. We will investigate and respond within 30 days.
